From Stage 3 to 4

First diagnosis was 2012, Stage 3 HER2+. I felt a lump in the shower during Breast Cancer Awareness month. It spread to the lymph nodes under my arm, so I had chemo and radiation with 7 years on tamoxifen. I got real sick when I went to ER and a chest x-ray revealed a mass on my lung. I had my lower lung removed, then a year later after I found a different oncologist who was thorough and scanned me every 3 months, we found more cancerous nodes in my abdominal cavity. I was back on chemo (Herceptin/Perjeta). After 15 months, that treatment stopped working, so I was back on chemo, but my third line was Enhertu, and one node was treatment-resistant. I tried 5 high dose rounds of radiation, 18 months later and all nodes are stable! I'm living life and treatment is not stopping me.

  1. I have found that enjoying life and appreciating the small things helps me move on. I also help others by making chemo baskets for others starting this journey as well as keeping a positive attitude.

  2. Thank you for sharing what you have endured! I am so glad you are stable now. Your attitude is wonderful. How has life changed for you because of this journey? Do you have any tips to share? All the best, Kathy (Team member)
