Sadness and disbelief

I was having a lot of back pain and had an MRI on April 1, on April 3 I was informed that my cancer had returned. I had just passed my 5 year mark for my previous breast cancer. I was and am devastated. It’s on my lower spine and it’s pressing down on the nerves back there. The pain is excruciating and some days I can’t take it.I’ve been jacked around on my care for this, finally Monday I will see my other oncology doctor for a 2nd opinion and I’m anxious to see what he says. I am praying that we can get something going on this because it seems to be getting worse every day and I’m getting to the point to where I can hardly walk anymore and that scares me more than anything. I try to stay positive and keep my spirits up but it’s really hard!!

  1. I am so sorry you are experiencing this. You are not alone. Many people living with breast cancer do experience recurrence well after they thought they had put the cancer behind them. It is frightening, but please know that many people live for years with metastatic or advanced breast cancer, and the number of women living with metastatic breast cancer is increasing, due in part to the improvements in treatment. I hope you have a great support system to help you on this challenging journey. Warmly, Kathy (Team member)
